Emergency First Aid At Work

EFAW (1 Day Course)

Course Overview

Under UK Health & Safety regulations, workplaces must provide adequate First Aid provision. This includes trained Emergency First Aiders and appropriate equipment such as AEDs. Prompt action in an emergency can prevent a minor incident from becoming a serious one.

Course Aim

This one-day course prepares individuals to take fast, effective action in emergencies. Learners will gain the confidence, skills, and knowledge to handle a wide range of workplace incidents, using HSE-compliant First Aid resources including AEDs.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider
  • Conduct a primary assessment of a casualty
  • Place an unconscious casualty in the recovery position
  • Deliver effective rescue breaths
  • Perform CPR according to Resuscitation Council UK standards
  • Operate an AED safely and correctly
  • Control bleeding and treat wounds
  • Identify and manage medical shock
